COMPACTIFICATION OF TYPE II STRING THEORY ON CALABI-YAU 3-FOLD

Abstract
We study compactification of type IIA and type IIB string theory on Calabi-Yau 3-fold. First, massless action of type IIA and type IIB string theories is introduced. Then, we discuss the some geometrical properties of Calabi-Yau manifold such as its cohomology group and its metric deformation which are useful in order to determine the particle spectrum in four dimensions. We finally derive the action of type II on Calabi-Yau 3-fold which is a special class of N=2 supergravity in four dimensions.
