THE EFFECT OF ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE ON GAS SENSOR USING SNO2(PTX) DOPED THIN FILM TO DETECT CHLORINE

Abstract
Chlorine is one of the toxic gases that need to be detected at the earliest stage. This paper studied the utilization of SnO2(Pt X) thin film and SnO2 (PtX) thin film annealed at 5000C as base material to detect the chlorine and the changes on the electrical resistance of the film once the interaction with the gas occurred. The sensing was measured at temperature of 1000C, and found to respond with resistance change, indicating the potential of these devices to be used as chlorine detector. The system was successfully used to detect chlorine gas as low as at 5 ppm of gas concentration.
