MATHEMATICAL MODELING WIND-INDUCED CURRENT OF THE GULF OF TOMINI

The gulf of Tomini is the gulf located at the equator and have complex bottom topography. The ocean circulation of this region may be controlled by wind system and baroclinic circulation. We build very simple model of current circulation of the gulf of Tomini. The model based on Boussinesq shallow water equation in the beta plane. Using eigen function expansion we get horizontal equation and vertical one. The horizontal equation is solved by Green's function methods and the vertical equation is solved by WKB approximation. Very important phenomena such as nutrient transport will be buildt using 1D advection-diffusion equation. The steady state solution and it's relation with fishing ground will be given.
