Abstract
The main objective of this manuscript is to learn the dynamics behind the wind-driven circulation along the two coasts of Peninsular Malaysia. For this purpose, the two leading orders of the u momentum equation are used to explain the geostrophic flow during the two monsoon seasons. ``The geostrophic circulation fails to explain the northward current along the Malacca Straits during the boreal summer. From our analysis, it follows that this circulation is driven by a large-scale phenomenon; that is, the Indonesian Throughflow.
