REVIEW: RECENT DEVELOPMENT IN HIGH ENERGY ASTROPHYSICS

Emphasizing on X-ray astronomy, recent development in high energy astrophysics in general is reviewed. We discuss both the development in the technological and scientific sides. In the technology part, much effort has been put to build larger collecting area telescopes, higher efficiency and time resolution detectors, and higher resolution spectrometers. In the scientific part, it seems that more and more evidences are pointing to the association of high energy radiation sources to compact objects (e.g. neutron stars, stellar-mass black holes, and supermassive black holes). Rather than solving older problems, more detailed data poses new theoretical problems to be solved.
