IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GINZBURG-LANDAU MODEL TO INVESTIGATE THE VORTEX CONFIGURATIONS OF MESOSCOPIC SUPERCONDUCTORS

Abstract
Various computational techniques to solve the Ginzburg-Landau (G-L) model are described in this paper. Review of such techniques are presented on a computational pedagogical, rather than elaborate, approach and are selected on their applications to the germination of vortex configurations of mesoscopic superconductors. The implementation of the G-L model are accomplished into two scenarios. The first scenario is the differential equation problem which is based on the solution of a pair of coupled nonlinear Ginzburg-Landau equations whereas the other is the global minimization problem of the so-called superconducting Gibbs free energy functional. The vortex configurations are revealed from the calculated spatial distributions of the complex-scalar values of the superconducting order parameter and the real-vector values of magnetic flux density inside specimen.
